Chocolate tea or cacao tisane?
All teas offered through this website have a cacao shell base. We use the term 'chocolate tea' a lot in our verbage, but the scientifically valid term is 'cacao tisane'.
Officially, 'tea' refers only to dried leaves of the camelia sinensis plant. This includes black tea, green tea, and white tea. Teas made with anything else are officially "herbal teas" or "tisanes."
Similarly, 'chocolate' typically refers to a candied preparation of cocoa butter, cocoa liquor, milk, sugar, vanilla, and preservatives. Since our products contain none of these ingredients or preparation style, it should be classified as cacao.
Call it what you want - Chocolate tea, cacao tisane. Toe-may-toe, toe-mah-toe. What's important is the delicious, natural taste of chocolate without the calories.
